On a Positive Note

The BGCDC team started the day off on a positive note by thanking Rhonda, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Joplin for allowing us to come and lend a helping hand. Thanks to the many supporters of Dane County we were able to present them with a check for $1500. They announced that we are the first BGC Club aside from BGC of America to give them a monetary donation toward their relief efforts. They also explained that we are the first big group to come and help in their distribution center.

No Words

Around 3am this morning we decided to head out to the affected areas of Joplin. Fortunately the Boys & Girls Club of Joplin is located about nine blocks away from the truely affected area. This is only a small piece of what we saw.

Top of the Morning

Top of the morning and we are already hard at work. The truck is unloaded and we are preparing to deliver medical supplies and shovels to relief workers shortly.

Hello Joplin- We are ready to help serve you

The BGCDC team finally arrived to our destination , the Boys & Girls Club of Joplin around 2:30am and we are ready to get started. So ready that we quickly unpacked our things, rallied, then snuck out into the damaged area to catch a preview of what could expect in the am. Words can't express the level of anxiety we all felt, but it quickly came to an end when we began to see what we saw... Stay-tuned. This is only the beginning of a life-learning experience.

A message from the CEO, Michael Johnson

Thank you Madison for stepping up! The truck is 3/4 full with medical supplies, water, clothes, rakes, brooms, etc. We have raised enough money to cover the truck rentals and SUV's for the volunteers. We need to raise about $1,000 in additional gas money (need gas cards) and we are on our way tomorrow.
